Playing with Pit Bulls!

This past weekend was devoted to photographing Pit Bulls for an editorial submission.  Whenever I need these fabulous dogs, there’s no one better to call than Jeanette.  Working with her AND her dogs is always a joy.  Her dogs are incredible!  They’re gorgeous and have the best personalities.

What made this shoot special was the inclusion of Maverick.  I photographed him when he was a newborn.  It was so nice to see him now that he’s grown up and become such a handsome boy!  He now belongs to Kaymie who was invited to bring him for this session.  I’m so glad I was able to see him again and to meet Kaymie.

Not only is Maverick handsome, he’s also talented.  He doesn’t stop at “sit and stay”.  From leading horses to running an agility course, there’s not much this pup can’t do.

He even cooperated when I wanted to do a few of my signature jumping dog photos.

Of course, his most important skill is cuddling with Kaymie, a very impressive young lady!  Kaymie is an excellent trainer and is passionate about this wonderful breed.  She’s very concerned about pending “breed specific” legislation that could make it illegal for her to have this wonderful dog.  I’ll be doing a separate blog post on this very upsetting issue.

In addition to Maverick, there were several other wonderful dogs included in the shoot.   This pup is just plain gorgeous!

This one had a great time with my shoe.

We even had a swimmer on our hands.

One of the other dogs decided to go for a swim, despite the fact he had never been in a pool before.  Unfortunately, he found out the hard way not all dogs can swim.  Jeanette had to jump in and rescue him.  I know this is Florida but we’ve had a cold winter and the water is still quite chilly.  Jeanette didn’t hesitate when she saw her boy struggling.

I haven’t finished editing photos from this weekend which is probably a good thing.  Otherwise, this blog post would be ten times as long.  I want to thank Jeanette, Shannon, Kaymie, Savannah, and Ashley for all your help this weekend.  I should also thank Gary who did a great job assisting on Sunday.

Oh….I also need to thank Liz for opening up the training center for us on Sunday.  It was great meeting you!  There will be a separate post with your adorable Basset (I’m sure you can guess what photo will be highlighted!).  In the meantime, here’s a sneak peak of Hubert.

Shannon - WOW! The dogs look so cute and amazing! The “smile” on Halo’s face in the pool, HUBERT!!!! Mavvy looks so handsome & of course him and Kaymie together melts my heart! You’ve captured SO much here for us to enjoy! THANK YOU!March 24, 2010 – 9:24 am

LME - I’m glad you like them Shannon! I can’t wait to finish editing all the photos from both sessions. The hard part is going to be whittling them down to a manageable set. There are so many “keepers”! Thanks again for participating. Thank Kaymie again for me too. She’s such an impressive young lady. I’m sure you’re very proud of her!March 24, 2010 – 7:42 pm

Serena - Love your work, glad I stumbled across you.April 2, 2010 – 3:40 am
